Movie Box Full Review

Remember when Walmart stores started popping up everywhere? Or back in the day when Blockbuster started opening stores all over the place? Or when we started to notice that every PC was being shipped with Windows pre-loaded on it? Every once in a while a company emerges from the dust with a service or a product that can't be competed with. The volume of their product and the incredibly low price the product is sold at makes it near impossible for the competition to keep up. MovieBox.com is to adult DVD download sites as Walmart is to super stores.

Though there might be a couple of established, big players out there providing a larger archive of DVDs than what members are enjoying inside of MovieBox.com, the other sites aren't updating as often. Members at MovieBox.com are enjoying 15 full length DVDs a day. Five are called "premium" DVDs and their scenes can only be watched and downloaded when purchased. The other 10 DVDs are called "regular" DVDs and can be streamed and downloaded at your leisure. The site is nearing 5,000 DVDs, which is quite a milestone. Keep in mind that these numbers reflect what the site was providing at the time of this review and with updates coming everyday, chances are, the site is much, much larger at the time you're reading this review.

Most DVD download sites with a huge collection of DVDs will sacrifice quality for quantity. They'll buy shitty, generic DVDs at a lower price in bulk so that they can grow their archive of content quickly. Not here. Though I did see a fair number of more common DVDs in the mix, I was impressed with the number of DVDs I hadn't seen before. Especially in the "premium" section, which was loaded with DVDs exclusive to the site. It's too bad these DVDs can only be downloaded after being purchased, but at least they're available in flash for streaming. Speaking of which, every scene from every DVD is encoded in flash that looks great and buffers quickly. The flash video can be watched in full screen and is easy to browse using the scene's thumbnail navigation tool. The "regular" DVDs have scenes that can be downloaded in full or in clips encoded in the WMV, MPEG, or MP4 formats. The MPEG files look the best giving way to DVD quality video. The WMV files aren't far behind them in quality either.

Navigating the site is fairly easy. The design isn't much different than what you're going to find inside most other DVD download sites with the content arranged by category, popularity, rating, update, studio, and pornstar I do like that there's more focus on scenes in here. I've found that most sites only focus on the DVD making it difficult to find what you're looking for. I didn't like that the pornstar listing lacked headshots. Therefore, if you don't know a performer's name, you're going to have trouble finding her. I also didn't like that there was no way to find DVDs based on the series they're a part of. The category listing contained all the basic niches you'd expect to see inside of a DVD download site.
